I adjust according to what I think each person needs. For the most part, I have a pragmatic and direct approach. I use a mix of humour, kindness, honesty and tough-love. I believe the best form of advice comes from asking unique questions- and most importantly the questions that matter. My ability to do this is what allows for successful results to occur.
Am I qualified to help you think differently? Of course, every human being can be capable of doing that. As stated in my bio, I am not a psychologist or a therapist. I read a lot of books. I have taken several online psychology courses from various universities. I actively work with psychologists and therapists on my quest for development. I mentor several people on an on-going basis, I produce seminars and courses for people to help resolve any issues they may be facing in their life. I am always on the hunt to learn more, experience more, and develop my programs to be even better each time I run them.
Hope you're sitting bored at work or in transit, this may take a while. If you're impatient- here's the short version: I love to help people and this is what I feel I have been put on this earth to do.
For those who appreciate the details, read on:
I have always been obsessed and intrigued by anything to do with self awareness and self improvement. In my teens, I made it my personal business to give others advice (sometimes unsolicited advice).
As I entered my mid-twenties, I started to invest in self-development courses and the obsession furthered. I started a travel blog when I was 28 (www.heartpackedsuitcase.com), and I found a love for writing which led to writing my own book. Not only was the feedback from my blog viewers very positive, but it has always been a dream of mine to leave this world as an author of a book that helps others. I started to write the book- but never finished. I allowed life to get in the way.
When I turned 30 years old, I did the Landmark Forum and a Tony Robbins seminar 8 months later. Doing both these seminars, combined with countless weeks of reflection- I realized I had put my true passions on hold to build a career for myself. Yes, it pays the bills and I truly enjoy not just what I do, but also thoroughly appreciate the challenge and reward entrepreneurship brings. This work, however.. was far more important to my soul. I realized that what was holding me back were my fears (money, credibility, being critiqued, level of effort required, vulnerability). Naturally, I'm not wrong to have those fears. They're normal. What I realized however, and most importantly what I decided, was that those reasons were just reasons. So I began to work.
I took a break from my business which was very difficult for my ambitious business mind to do as I had just purchased my first home and had a mortgage to pay off, but this was more important to me. I knew it would be an arduous undertaking- and had no idea where to start, so I simply started somewhere. I began to study all the topics I wanted to help others with. I immersed myself in this content. I lived with it, every single day (I still do). As I was writing the book, I realized I needed more experience directly interacting with people's problems if I wanted it to truly help others through all walks of life. And so, I publically invited strangers on my instagram to connect with me if they're going through a difficult time. I met up with several individuals over coffee (all friendly strangers). I was touched, it was helpful to both of us for all individual meet-ups. But I was hungry for more.
I decided to hold seminars that covered chapters and contents of my book. It was a bold move for me as I really felt like I was putting myself out there. I knew, however; that if I wanted to test the contents of my book and see if it truly resonates with other individuals, I needed to reach several people to gain valuable and actionable experience. I had no idea if people would even show up, but I told myself I would find a way to fill the first session. The first seminar was called 'Let's spend the night to make you fall in love with yourself', was booked within 2 days with nearly 20 attendees. Half the room people I have never met, and the other half a mix of acquaintances and friends. Booking these seminars forced me to nail down my content, helping me write/refine my book in the process. I am so grateful for the opportunity to connect with other people.. every second is so incredibly fulfilling. Since the first seminar, I have written 6 more and I have conducted seminars in Italy; created a 6 month course for women called the "Alfemale Academy", 3x7 day unique challenges, and created digital assets to help people visually, not just verbally.
The effort and time I've been investing in this feels so right to me in a way I cannot explain. It's a lot of work but it's like I've found my purpose and I am doing the thing I am simply meant to be doing. This is my way to give back to the universe. It's my way to give love to the world. I look forward to having you on this journey with me. Thanks for being here.
